Felt Rug Pad Sourcing FAQ

Publish Time: 2026-06-15     Origin: Site

We are a direct-source factory for felt rug pads, offering OEM/ODM services for wholesalers, hotel buyers, and home furnishing brands. Below we answer the 16 most common questions from our clients — clearly and directly.

1. Product Basics

What is a felt rug pad? What is its main purpose?
A felt rug pad is made of high-density polyester fibers through a needle-punch process, placed between the rug and the floor. It adds softness underfoot, protects floors from scratches, reduces walking noise, and extends the life of your rug.
What types of felt rug pads do you produce?
We mainly produce five types: plain felt, felt + TPR, felt + heavy-duty latex coating, felt + dot non-slip backing, and felt + silicone anti-slip backing.
Which floor types are suitable for felt rug pads?
They work well on hardwood, tile, marble, concrete, and heated floors. Models with non-slip backing provide the best grip.

2. Specifications & Parameters

How to choose thickness?
Common thickness options: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm. 6mm is for low-traffic areas or thin rugs; 8mm is the mainstream choice for residential use; 10mm is for extra comfort or thick rugs. Custom thickness is available for wholesale orders.
What about density?
Density is expressed in grams per square meter (g/m²), ranging from 400 to 1200 g/m². Higher density means stronger support and greater durability. For hotels and commercial use, 800 g/m²+ is recommended.
Can you cut to custom sizes?
Yes. We support any shape and size customization — from standard squares to circles, runners, or even irregular room shapes. Available as single-piece cut or full rolls.

3. Material & Environmental Compliance

What raw material is used for the felt?
Virgin or recycled polyester fibers, glue-free and formaldehyde-free. We can provide OEKO-TEX, GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and other eco‑certifications.
Is the rubber backing natural or synthetic?
Both are available. TPR (thermoplastic rubber) is odorless, non-toxic and recyclable; natural rubber offers better anti-slip properties and softer feel. The choice depends on your target market and budget.
Does the felt rug pad shed or deform over time?
High-quality needle-punched felt undergoes heat-setting treatment, so it does not shed or collapse. Our products are engineered for lasting shape retention.

4. Customization & Ordering

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our standard MOQ is 1000 square meters. For first-time cooperation, we can discuss a lower trial order.
Do you offer OEM/ODM (logo printing, custom packaging)?
Absolutely. We provide OEM (production based on your designs) and ODM (we help develop new products). Customization includes size, thickness, density, backing type, packaging style, carton markings, and even embossing your brand logo on the pad surface (relief or inkjet).
Sampling time and cost?
Existing samples are provided free of charge. Custom sampling takes 5–7 business days.
What is the production lead time?
Standard lead time: 15–30 days. Expedited handling is available for urgent orders.

5. Certification & Compliance

Which export certifications are typically required?
Common requirements include:
  • Eco/Safety: OEKO-TEX Standard 100, REACH, RoHS
  • Slip resistance: ASTM D2047 (coefficient of friction ≥ 0.5)
  • Recycled content: GRS certification
We can provide test reports or arrange third-party lab testing upon request.
Can felt rug pads be used on heated floors?
Yes. Plain felt and TPR-backed versions withstand temperatures up to 60–70°C without melting or releasing odors. Natural rubber backing is not recommended for heated floors (it may soften under high heat).

6. Price & Logistics

How is pricing calculated?
Price depends on thickness, density, backing type, and order quantity. Larger volumes reduce the unit price. Send us your specifications and quantity, and we will provide a quotation within 24 hours.
How are shipping costs estimated? Which port do you ship from?
We are located in Shandong, China. We can arrange FCL (full container load) or LCL (less than container load) sea shipments. A detailed shipping cost will be provided based on destination and volume.
